Electric Panel Installation & Service Upgrade

100A to 200A. 200A to 400A. Federal Pacific and Zinsco replacements. FPL coordination handled end-to-end.

What this covers

Electric Panel Installation in Broward & Palm Beach

Panel upgrades are the single most common job we do — because so many South Florida homes still have 100A service that can't handle a modern HVAC + EV + tankless load. Or worse, a Federal Pacific or Zinsco panel that's a legitimate fire risk and can't be insured anymore. We do the whole workflow: load calc, permit, FPL disconnect, install, inspection, FPL reconnect. You get one call, one price, one crew.

What's included

  • Panel replacement (same-size swap or upgrade to 200A/400A)
  • Load calculation and permit package
  • FPL disconnect and reconnect scheduling
  • New meter can, weatherhead, or service mast as needed
  • Full breaker replacement (arc-fault + ground-fault where code requires)
  • Whole-house grounding electrode conductor replacement to code
  • Every circuit hand-labeled to what it actually powers
  • Final inspection with the AHJ

When to call us

Your panel is a Federal Pacific, Zinsco, or Challenger

These panels have a known failure mode where the breaker doesn't trip during a short circuit — the fire code recommends replacement, and most insurers won't cover the home until they're gone.

You're adding an EV, hot tub, tankless water heater, or full-home AC

New heavy loads push a 100A/125A service over the edge. Time to upsize before the breaker trips at inconvenient times.

You have double-tapped breakers or Federal Pacific 'stab-lok' breakers

Signs the panel is out of space or unsafe. Not a cosmetic issue — this is what causes the recall paperwork.

You're doing an insurance re-inspection

4-point inspections almost always flag old panels. Upgrade before you renew, save the surcharge.

Common questions

How much does a panel upgrade cost?

Ballpark: $2,800–$5,500 for a straight 200A residential replacement in South Florida, depending on the meter position, the state of the mast, and how far FPL has to travel. We give a firm price after we look at your panel — no surprises.

How long am I without power?

Usually 6-8 hours for the physical install. FPL cuts power in the morning, we install through the day, FPL restores power that same evening — coordinated in advance so you can plan.

Will my breakers still work when the power's out?

During install, yes — nothing has power because the main is off. After install, everything works normally including any UPS or backup systems.
