Are you licensed and insured in Florida?
Yes — Edwin's Electric LLC is a fully licensed Florida electrical contractor and carries $2M general liability plus workers' compensation. License number is displayed on every proposal and invoice, and a certificate of insurance can be sent directly to your GC, property manager, or building department on request.
How fast can you respond to an electrical emergency?
Live-answered phone any hour, seven days a week. Same-day arrival for emergencies across most of our Broward + southern Palm Beach service area. North Lauderdale and adjacent Broward cities are usually within an hour; Palm Beach cities at odd hours can be 60-90 minutes.
Do you handle permits and inspections?
Yes. Any job that touches the panel, adds a circuit, changes the service size, adds an EV charger, or installs a generator gets a permit pulled in our name. We schedule the AHJ inspection and are on-site for it. You don't touch the permit portal.
How much does a panel upgrade cost?
Ballpark $2,800-$5,500 for a straight 200A residential replacement in South Florida — depending on the state of your service mast, meter can position, and FPL scheduling. We give a firm price after we look at your panel. No surprises.
What size generator do I need for my home?
Depends on your AC tonnage. Typical South Florida home with one 5-ton central AC + kitchen + basic loads = 20kW. Two AC units or a heat pump = 22kW-26kW. We do a load survey before we quote, so the number matches your actual house.
Do you install Tesla and universal EV chargers?
Yes — Tesla Wall Connectors and universal Level 2 chargers (Ford, GM, Rivian, Hyundai, VW-compatible). We handle the panel-load calc, permit, install, and inspection. HOAs and condo associations get a formal letter of scope and insurance certificate for approval.
Will you handle the FPL disconnect for a panel or generator install?
Yes. We schedule the FPL disconnect, do the work, and coordinate the reconnect. You get one call, one price, one crew — you're never left on hold with FPL trying to schedule the outage.
Do you work on aluminum wiring?
Yes. We do COPALUM-approved pigtail conversions that resolve the insurance issue and prevent the overheating at connections that causes aluminum-wiring house fires. The whole house takes 1-2 days for a typical single-family.
Can you fix work another electrician started?
Yes, all the time. Bring us in, we'll look at it, tell you what needs to change, and we won't badmouth the previous guy in front of you. Then we fix it and warranty our part of the work.
What warranty do you offer?
1-year workmanship warranty on every installation. Manufacturer warranties on the equipment we install (breakers, panels, generators, chargers) pass through to you and typically run 5-10 years.
Do you offer financing?
For larger jobs (panel upgrades, whole-home generators, solar) we work with 12/24/36-month financing partners. Ask when we quote and we'll get you the options up front.
